When four orphaned goslings made their way into Alf Hole’s life in 1939, the sanctuary’s roots were established. Today, Alf’s legacy is enjoyed by many park visitors. Inside the modernized interpretive building, displays present the history of the sanctuary, the biology of Canada geese and plenty of opportunities to view the geese up-close. Interpreters offer scheduled programs, activities and park information from spring to fall. Best times to visit are mid-May when goslings are present with their parents, and late August to Thanksgiving when hundreds of geese are staging for fall migration.
