You Can’t Dine-in, but Take-out is Still Fun! Check Out These Tasty Eastman Restaurants

In Eastern Manitoba, you can find so many fantastic restaurants. Check out our list of great places to grab some grub in the communities of St.Pierre Jolys, Ile des ChĂȘnes, Grand Marais, Grunthal, Oakbank, West Hawk Lake, Pinawa, and Ste. Anne.

While restaurants may be closed for dining, you can still enjoy some delicious meals with take-out. Whether you’re heading to the lake, looking for that next date night destination, thinking of having a family picnic, or simply love trying out new restaurants, these are must-try eateries!

Thai on 59 (Ile des ChĂȘnes)

At Thai on 59, you can experience authentic Thai food and other south-east Asian cuisines that will ‘wow’ every taste bud. The Chef Special’s House Noodle Soup is made with homemade rice noodles cooked in an amazing chicken broth and garnished with cilantro and green onions topped off with fried garlic.

Thai Way Lo Mein is sure to satisfy your grumbling stomach. This Thai style Chow Mein is served with spice, crunchy broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, mushrooms, beef or chicken, shrimp, homemade BBQ roasted pork stir-fried in their delicious special Thai sauce. Enjoy this meaty, juicy and crunchy option. Cooked with BBQ pork, shrimp, calamari, chicken and mixed greens on a bed of crispy egg noodles, you can’t turn down the Deluxe Mee Krob.

They also offer beverages like Bubble Tea with Pearls, fresh-squeezed lemonade, Thai iced coffee, and soft drinks.

Sand Bar Motor Inn (Grand Marais)

Sand Bar Motor Inn offers delicious fusion-style cuisine and comfort food that keeps you coming back for more! Their Butter Chicken with rice, vegetables, and nan won’t disappoint and will fill your belly. Their Quesadillas, cheese, or loaded options are served with salsa and sour cream and sure to hit the spot. Get a mouth full of pure heaven with their Nacho Grande, which has fried taco chips seasoned with your choice of beef or chicken, blended cheese, peppers, onions, and tomato.

You can also enjoy a variety of burgers, soups, sandwiches, pizza, and more if you’re in the mood for American cuisine that will delight your taste buds.

The Patio Grill (Grunthal)

At the Patio Grill, you can grab all your picnic goodies. While you wait for your food, enjoy the family environment and helpful staff.

Feel like having some appetizers? You have your choice of battered mushrooms, mozzarella sticks, cauliflower bits, and more.

Go all out and order those poutines! Try their Patio Poutine, Perogy Poutine, or the Menno Poutine that’s made with curly fries, farmer sausage, bacon, onion, and cream gravy.

For full meals, you can’t go wrong with their Perogies and Farmer Sausage, Chicken Dinner, or their Fish and Chips.

Pineridge Hollow (Oakbank)

At Pineridge Hollow, you can taste the prairies. Supporting local growers and producers, you’ll find that their menu features the talents of their neighbouring farmers and ranchers. With these home-grown ingredients, you can taste the incredible flavours of wholesome, delicious, and comforting food.

Feel like sharing? These dishes are perfect for two! Their Rosemary and sea salt Beet Chips served with house-made goat cheese and ranch dipping sauce is out of this world!

Or try their Borderland Agriculture Bison Burgers topped with herb goat cheese, candied jalapeno, cucumber ribbons, and fresh Shallots. No judgement here if you want to eat it all by yourself.

Their Pickerel Burger is grilled with a lemon sauce, cucumber ribbons, pickled onions, fresh arugula and crispy capers, and house-cut fries. And a huge plus is that it is gluten-free!

Their Nashville fried Chicken is another great choice. A pickle and buttermilk brined bone-in fried chicken tossed in haskap honey, topped with mustard slaw and house pickles and served with house-cut fries.

Hi-Point Restaurant (West Hawk Lake)

The Hi-Point Restaurant offers customers delicious food and a friendly atmosphere that makes you feel like part of the family.

One of the local favourites is the Spicy Local. This burger is made up of 5 oz. homemade patty, topped with grilled jalapenos, cheddar cheese, mustard, mayo, lettuce, and onions. And, when requested, you can have this yummy dish gluten-free.

Or enjoy one of their wraps, sandwiches, fish, chicken, and more from their large menu.

On the Water Eats (Pinawa)

At On the Water Eats, you can delight your taste buds with this family-owned and operated restaurant’s dishes. Known for their mouthwatering burgers, you have a diverse selection made up of sandwiches, hotdogs, and burgers. The fam-favourites hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon cheeseburger, chicken burger, and veggie (vegan, to be precise) burger can be found on their menu.

You can also enjoy dippers with sauce, foot-long hotdog, whistle dog, and an 8-inch hotdog!

But the must-order options are their signature items – The Knockout Burger and The Pinawa Patty Melt. The Knockout Burger has two patties, cheddar cheese, Swiss cheese, mustard, ketchup, onions, pickles, lettuce, bacon, mushrooms, and your choice of BBQ sauce or roasted garlic chili aioli.

Vicky’s Drive Inn (Ste. Anne)

Vicky’s Drive Inn is the place to pick up your food. Vicky’s Favourite is what you should get if you are hankering for a burger. With delicious chili, double patties with bacon, mustard, onions, pickles, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo, you can add a little ‘bam’ to your meal.

Who wants some Pitas? Order up their Chicken Pita or their Gyro Pita, which has lamb and pork with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, Tzatziki sauce wrapped in a warm pita.

Their menu also has salads, pasta, chicken fingers, pizza and more, so even the pickiest of eaters can find something that they will LOVE. You can also pick up some milkshakes for a yummy drink.

J’em Bistro (St. Pierre Jolys)

Head on down to J’em Bistro to enjoy made from scratch (and with love) goodies and drinks. Pick up your beverages and food from this cozy gem and be prepared to be ‘wowed.’ Enjoy tasty sandwiches like chicken salad, egg salad, ham and cheddar, and BLT wraps.

While you are more than welcomed to order the usual coffee, tea, juice, milk, or pop, we suggest trying the Gourmet Iced Coffee or the Bistro Lemonade.

With their Gourmet Iced Coffee, choose a flavour shot and then top it with Chantilly cream. You’ll feel pleasantly refreshed with one sip of their Bistro Lemonade made with real fruit and fresh herbs.
