Boreal Shores Art Tour (Various Locations) – August 20 and 21, 2021

Take a different kind of road trip with the Boreal Shores Art Tour!

Boreal Shores Art Tour is back this year on August 20 and 21! During this self-guided driving tour, you’ll experience visually stunning artwork, meet the artists that create their masterpieces, and adventure Eastern Manitoba in an entirely different way.

Creativity runs deep in Eastern Manitoba, and inspiration flows at every turn. From the surreal east shore beaches of Lake Winnipeg, through the Winnipeg River System to the rugged lake country of the Whiteshell, join Boreal Shores on a tour of art and landscapes as artists across this beautiful region open their homes and studios to share their world with you.

This year, their art route starts within the Beaches of 59 in Beaconia, Belair, Hillside Beach, Victoria and more; travel South on Highway 11 through Pine Falls/Powerview and St. Georges, then to Lac du Bonnet, Pinawa, Seven Sisters Falls, and River Hills; On Highway 44, you’ll also stop in the communities of Whitemouth, Rennie, Falcon Lake and end back on Highway 11 in Hadashville as your final destination. In total, you’ll experience 38 artists’ art pieces, each with their own diverse work, including acrylics, batik, clay, clothing, fibre, glass (fused, painted and stained), jewelry, metal work, mixed media, photography, oils, pottery, watercolours, woodcarving and woodworking.

Dinner and a Show: Fortune Block & Southern Spread Dinner (Falcon Lake) – August 12, 2022

You don’t want to miss Falcon Ridge Ski Slopes/Trails End Café’s Dinner and a Show!

Fortune Block is a folk-country duo that combines the beautiful melodic voice of Amber Rose Nielsen and the deep rich vocals of Richard Inman. Together they write songs of love, death, horses and hot dogs. Together, Richard and Amber have formed Fortune Block and are set to become festival staples on the Canadian Music scene.

Dinner will be a southern-style spread prepared by Julie and Isaac of Blume Kitchen (and Golden Fried Burger fame) featuring Nashville hot chicken, collard greens, smokey mac and cheese, cornbread with honey butter and more! With fresh fruit and sugar pies for dessert!

Enchanted Forest (Blumenort) – August 26 to 28, 2022

Enter a world of magic and whimsy with Frontier Events’ Enchanted Mazes!

Kids and adults will love this adventure! Enter the 5,500 sq ft mazes while meeting fantastical characters as you, your friends, and family stroll through magical halls and complete challenges to earn the 4 seals and escape. Afterwards, relax around the fire at the Tavern to share your stories!

Book Masagana Flower Farm’s Tinta Experience (La Broquerie)

Design, create and discover beauty with Masagana Flower Farm.

Masagana Flower Farm is a small-scale flower farm and dye studio near La Broquerie, where they cultivate, create and collaborate. With their Tinta experience, you can create your very own fashion piece with prairie-grown flowers and natural dyes!

Design your scarves and cotton bandana with flowers and plants that are hand-grown by Lourdes, the owner and artist of Masagana, and hand-dyed by you. After your 3-hour experience, you’ll bring home your creations as a tangible memory of your time at the farm.

Mennonite Heritage Village’s Peace Trek 2022 (Steinbach) – August 20, 2022

Eden Foundation and the Mennonite Heritage Village (MHV) are proud to co-host their first annual Peace Trek!

Help these groups reach their fundraising goal of $30,000 by choosing to cycle, marathon, or relay the Peace Trail; a route that resembles what the first Mennonites took to settle in southeastern Manitoba. This peer-fundraising event seeks to enhance recreational, social, and spiritual well-being by trekking the historic Peace Trail.

The route takes you through the Mennonite Landing Site, Metis Lot Plaques, Shantz Sheds Cairn, Tourond Discovery Centre, Chortitz Church, Rosenthal Nature Park, Keating Cairn, and Dirk Willems Peace Garden Mennonite Heritage Village.
