A few members of the Eastman Tourism team treated themselves to a two-night getaway to Barrier Bay so that we could share the experience with you.

Barrier Bay is open year-round. And as far as we can tell, no matter the season or which cabin you choose, the breathtaking views will delight you for hours. Be it from the great outdoors themselves, cuddled up on the enclosed porch, or even snuggled up tightly in the cozy beds that are just a little too difficult to leave without good reason, the view is spectacular.

If you manage to pull yourself out of bed for the day, there is an abundance of outdoor activities waiting for you to explore. During the spring, summer, and fall, enjoy walking or biking the trails, birding, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, or boating.

During the winter, spend your days’ skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, or simply enjoying the trails on foot. Don’t worry if you don’t have all the gear that some of these activities need; you can rent them on-site. Barrier Bay offers canoe, kayak, sup, boat, mountain bike, ski, and snowshoe rentals, and if you’re feeling like trying out something completely different, they even have an Ultra Skiff!Of course, if you and your loved one prefer to stay within the confines of your cabin, we wouldn’t hold it against you. Relaxing in the cozy and comfortable cabin, enjoying the view from the oversized windows overlooking the lake can be more than enough fun for anyone, especially if you’re enjoying it from the warmth of the jacuzzi or overlooking the sights while enjoying the fireplace.All the amenities you think you may need are provided in the cabin. From plates and glasses to cookware and utensils, Barrier Bay has made sure you won’t miss any of your creature comforts; kettles, teapots, toasters, coffee makers, and microwaves are available too. And for those rainy or snowy days, you’ll find a catalogue of board games available in the convenience store, which also carries a wide selection of giftware and those often forgotten items like ice, condiments, canned fruit and vegetables, ice cream, over the counter medicines and more.

They say it’s the little things in life, and from the moment you pull into the resort, you’ll be swept away by the charm. Owners, D.J. and Erika, have created a special little oasis for their guests to sneak away to relax and connect, and they have added a lot of little touches that make the stay all the more memorable. Of course, we don’t want to give them all away, but entering the cabin and finding jazz and country music CD’s along with a stereo and sound system just made the getaway all the better.The last thing we want to tell you about are the amazing opportunities to catch a glimpse of some of the amazing wildlife that calls this area home. While we didn’t experience anything other than your run of the mill blue jays; otters, bear, fox, owls and more have been captured on camera by many guests. It all depends on the time of year you visit and of course, patience as you sit in wait, or even a little luck.

By the end of our two-day getaway, we realized that we didn’t really need to worry about packing in as much fun as possible, all we needed to worry about was planning our next getaway with Barrier Bay.
