Did you know that there is access to the Crow Wing Trail in De Salaberry? Exploring the trails is always a fantastic activity, and hitting the Crow Wing Trail is out of this world! With a rich history behind it, gorgeous landscape to walk, bike, or ski along, and incredible wildlife and plant life to be discovered, this is one of the Eastman’s and De Salaberry’s finest trails and attraction.

The Crow Wing Trail is a total of 193 km, connecting and twisting through communities starting at Emerson-Franklin and ending in Winnipeg. Towns and Municipalities it runs through are Roseau River First Nation, De Salaberry, St-Pierre-Jolys, Niverville, and Ritchot.

The trail is perfect for all levels, with parts easy to navigate, or, for more experienced outdoor people, provides a challenge. You can do all your favourite outdoor activities like hiking, biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. Birding is very popular on this trail. The Chimney Swifts have the highest known concentration in the province on the Crow Wing Trail.

The trail is also an artist’s paradise with plenty of natural, earthy, and animal muses for you to base your next work of art on, whether it’s painting, drawing, photography, or even writing a song about your experience and reconnecting with nature.

The Municipality of De Salaberry is full of rich history and historic buildings. If you are a history lover, you could spend days exploring the communities and taking in the magnificent buildings. From the churches, old shops, schools, historic residential architecture, and many more, you’ll be blown away.

A few buildings on the list are the St. Malo Roman Catholic Church, where the majestic spires of the Roman Catholic Church suggest the glories of turn-of-the-century ecclesiastical architecture. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Dufrost is another great church in the area. While it may be a modest building, its distinctive form and onion domes are the most obvious (and beloved) expression of Ukrainian heritage in the region.

Farm buildings won’t be hard to find. Each building shows the importance of the farming community that lies in the RM of De Salaberry. From barns, sheds, and granaries to wooden silos, a honeybee operation, and bull barn, these buildings are a sight to see and provides the perfect opportunity to take some photos.

There are many, many more historical buildings to be found in De Salaberry. Follow this link to a full list of buildings you can explore in De Salaberry and the Village of St-Pierre-Jolys.Don’t forget to fill up your energy!
