Spending time with your grandkids is one of the greatest perks of summer. Teaching them family traditions, baking pies and cookies, sitting back and reading together, or even completing daily chores. Every moment spent with your wonderous little ones are memories in the making.

Eastern Manitoba has a delightful selection of things to do with the grandkids this summer. Whether your looking for your next grand adventure, or just need some time to sit back and relax, our great communities have got you covered. Here are just 5 great places to spend time with the grandkids this summer.

#1 Eastern Manitoba Museum Tour

Mennonite Heritage Village Museum – Steinbach

Hop in the car and go on an adventure of our past. The Wondering Through History: Eastern Manitoba Museum Tour will take you back in time as you visit up to 17 wonderful Museums and Historical sites in Eastern Manitoba. You can choose the type of experience you would like to enjoy. Discover the Pioneer Era, immerse yourself in the culture that built our province, explore the Industrial Era and how things were done long ago, or discover some of the unique treasures hidden within our region. No matter what you choose, your bound to have days of learning and laughter!

#2 Beach Day!

Summer fun at Grand Beach Provincial Park in Manitoba, Canada.

No summer would be complete without a trip or two (or many) to the beach. Eastern Manitoba has many beaches within driving distance. Switch things up a little by exploring a beach outside of your community. You can make an entire day trip splashing in the cools waters and then exploring the shops and restaurants of the community. With 20+ beaches just waiting to be explored, we know you’ll be able to create many new adventures with your family. You can also check out some lesser-known, local watering holes and immerse yourself in a new community like one of the locals!

#3 Visit 10 Acre Woods

Sleep sheep at 10 Acre Woods – Anola

A small hobby farm located in Anola, 10 Acre Woods is a wondrous place to get up close and personal with a variety of animals. If you’re looking for a day of laughter and giggles, this is the place! What makes 10 Acre Woods even more spectacular is the fact that they are a family-run, non-profit animal rescue taking in runts, orphans, or those who have been left behind and neglected. Spending the day with these animals and sharing your love with them helps them socialize and feel loved!

#4 – A Maze in Corn

Sunflower Expo opens August 17 at A Maze in Corn

A Maze in Corn is the ultimate family adventure destination! If you think it’s all about corn, you’d be wrong. Every year, A Maze in Corn adds something new for the family to enjoy. With a petting zoo, pony rides, zip-line, pumpkin barn, haunted forest, 2018 launched snow maze, the ever-popular corn maze and now the newly launched sunflower expo – it’s not a matter of when you go – it’s a matter of how many times you go! This family attraction is a multi-day, multi-season destination for adventure!

#5 Sit Back and Relax with a Movie

While adventure is great, sometimes a family just needs to sit back and relax. While Eastern Manitoba doesn’t have traditional movie theatres, we do have a new community theatre inside a 113-year-old repurposed church. The St. John’s Heritage Church & Arts Centre runs movies every Thursday, and will have Saturday morning shows for the remainder of the summer. Showing a variety of classics, family-friendly and new movie releases, you’re bound to find a title to share with the grandkids.
